Prevent Spreading Germs

Last month my entire family came down with the latest flu virus that has been going around. While we were all ill I kept cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces in our home until the flu was just a memory. Then I went back to my normal cleaning schedule. After dealing with the flu for three weeks I was very excited to hear that I would be reviewing the products pictured below from Shoplet.com and Gojo.

The best way to prevent spreading germs is to wash your hands often with soap and water. What do you do when you are not near soap and water? For example: When you are out grocery shopping and pick up a package of chicken. The package leaves moisture on your hands! What do you do? I use my Gojo Sample of PurellJelly Wrap (hand sanitizer) that I have clipped to my purse. Then after shopping I wash my hands with soap and water. Having this handy little bottle of hand sanitizer hanging on my bag makes it easy to use with out touching my purse. This should in turn help prevent spreading germs.

The product you see on your left in the above photo is the Purell Pal instant hand sanitizer desktop dispenser.  I think that is a neat way to keep your hand sanitizer near you at work. Did you know that the average desk harbors over 10,000,000 germs? A computer keyboard harbors on average 3,295 germs per sq. in. A mouse harbors an average of 1,676 germs per sq. in. A phone harbors an average of 25,127 germs per sq. in. That sure is a lot of germs. I would think using hand sanitizer in between wash room trips might prevent some of these germs from being brought home to our family. (The above mentioned facts were from a study by the University of Arizona titled Germs In The Work Place.)

Next is the Gojo Purell Hand Sanitizer/Dispenser AD-7. I really am happy about this dispenser. I found the dispenser simple to mount easy to use. I mounted it on the wall near our patio door. We use this door when we go out to feed our chickens. I like to sanitize my hands before and after I collect eggs. This is very convenient for that purpose. When I step back in my house after handling chickens or eggs I do not like to touch door knobs, faucet handles or other surfaces before sanitizing them. Of course I then wash my hands with soap and water.

To go with the dispenser I received Purell Advanced Non-Aerosol Instant Hand Sanitizer Foam to fill the Gojo Purell Hand Sanitizer/Dispenser AD-7. The thick rich foam claims to kill 99.9% of common germs. I tried the foam and it dries very quickly and does not leave a sticky feeling.  Not feeling sticky is very important to me!

C-Line Products #shopletreviews

Today I am reviewing two very interesting products from C-Line and Shoplet.com.

Being a product reviewer I try to stay organized with review dates and product information. There are times when I get swamped with multiple products arriving in the mail all on the same day. There are other days I may not receive any products but have a busy schedule that interferes with my reviewing time. With a few of the right office supplies I can be organized with my review guidelines, due dates and information sheets.
The first product that is going to help me organizing my review information is the C-line Bound Sheet Protector Presentation book. The presentation book is great for professional project presentations. This would be great for school and business projects. When I taught second grade ESL I used a similar presentation book to keep my original copies for tests and quizzes. This presentation book is of much higher quality. The 12 top loading clear sheet protectors are made with archival quality poly. The spine insert is reversible allowing the spine insert to be labeled. There is a free downloadable template that can be found on c-line's website to label the spine insert.

My intended use is to keep review guidelines of up coming products I have in order of the date received.  I plan to keep the review guidelines for the product review I am working on in the inside front storage pocket.

The sheet protectors are clear, acid-free and fit 8 1/2" x 11" pages.

I really think this would also make a great school science fair presentation book or perhaps hold pages of recipes printed from the Internet. The plastic sheet protectors would wipe off nicely in case of cooking splatters. I could also use it to hold 24 8x10 photos of my grandchildren. Well, now I need to order a few extras to have around the house for all my new ideas.

Next up for review is the C-line Expanding File with Handles.

This is a professional style expanding file that looks like a briefcase. It is a fantastic portable traveling filing system. With 13 clear pockets and 12 color coded tab dividers it makes a great organized file system to take with me when I travel to visit my grandchildren.

Having a Velcro closure to secure the filed content is going to make traveling with my review materials a snap. The large expanding pocket file can hold up to 300 pages. I slipped in a color coded tab so you might see how easy it is to be organized with this feature.

I am very happy with my C-line office products. I am sure they will keep my pending reviews organized and easy to complete.

Hon Ignition HIWM2 Mid Back Management Chair #shopletreviews

Have you ever wanted a nice chair for your home office? I have thought about finding a desk chair with good back support. I sit at my desk for long stretches at a time. My back can begin to ache and my legs go numb from poor circulation. A good chair can solve these problems and more. Well, thanks to my favorite office supply store I have a new office chair for my blogging corner.
The chair I received to review is a HON Ignition HIWM2 Mid Back Management Chair. I have a couple nice looking office chairs but they are not comfortable when sitting for long hours.

With my new chair I am able to sit for a longer time period with out feeling a strain on my back muscles. The Hon Ignition Work Mid-back Chair has been designed to adjust to fit different body types. The arms can adjust to your preferred height and move out for more width in the seat area. The photo below shows the left arm raised to the maximum height and the right arm moved to the lowest setting.

As with most office chairs this chair can be raised or lowered to accommodate long or shorter legs. The back of the chair can be raised or lowered so the contour will fit to your body. This feature makes it great for back support. The chair also can tilt back allowing a person to adjust the back angle to ones preference. One more plus to this chair it is available in many upholstery options including a mesh back. I just love the mesh back. Air flow is very important to me when sitting for long hours. I like to work in comfort when sitting at my computer. With all the adjustment set to fit myself I am so excited to sit right down and get started on some long over due writing assignments.

 

 

My family usually likes to confiscate my review products with in minutes or days of completing a review. With this chair there has been a lot of begging and pleading. I am keeping the chair folks! Not, sharing with anyone! Well, maybe my sweet husband can use it from time to time. What type of chair do you like to work in? Imagine my surprise when I arrived home from my latest trip and found an unexpected package on my doorstep. I love surprise packages. When ever I get office supplies to review I get very excited. I enjoy seeing all the great new products available at Shoplet.com. Today I am reviewing two great Royce Leather products.

These two products come in gift worthy packaging.

First is the Royce Leather iPhone Sleeve. If you have an iPhone or similar slim phone this is the perfect leather cover for you. Simple elegant protection for your iPhone. I often keep my phone in my pocket. It is very handy to keep a phone in your pocket but not very safe. I had a screen crack while I doing some yard work once. With my new cover I will not have to worry about my screen getting scratched or cracked.

The case is beautifully stitched. The sleek design makes it easy to remove your phone from the case.

The case is made of genuine leather with measurements of 4 3/4" x 2 1/2" x 1/2" and weighs 3oz.
I am very happy with my new phone case.

Second is the Royce Leather The Big Tag.  As a seasoned traveler I know how important it is to tag all my luggage. With the The Big Tag I am not only able to tag my luggage I am going to be able to see my luggage on the airport conveyor belt from a good distance.

The Big Tag is made of Top Grain Nappa Cowhide. The feature I really like is the privacy flap that keeps my information from prying eyes.

Made with a strong lobster claw rotating claps that hooks securely to my bag. Measuring 6" x 4" x 1/4" and weighing 3oz. makeing the Big Tag easy to see and find my bag. The wild berry color will defiantly stand out in a crowd.

Purify Your Air

Everyone I know wants to breathe clean air. It's important for us to keep the air in our homes not only smelling clean but free from airborne particulates and pollutants. I have mentioned many times that I am asthmatic. I use steroids to keep my asthma under control. For the most part my asthma is usually under control. I do have a sensitivity to dust, mold, heavy scented perfumes and cigarette smoke. Any time I am exposed to any one of the above I will have problem breathing. We have been using an ionizing air purifier in our home for a few years now. This has proven to help keep the dust to a very minimum. This in turn helps keep my asthma under control.


When I heard that I was going to be reviewing a Fellowes Air Purifier Pooh Bear and I sat at the curb waiting for the UPS to deliver our package. I will have to save that story for another time. I know you are thinking I already had a purifier, why would I be that excited to try another one? I have learned that not all purification systems are the same. Most clean small particulates, and dust from the air, while a few air cleaners do much more.  

Let me tell you a little about my old purifier. This purifier has a reusable filter. I like that it does not cost to replace the filter. I just sweep the dust away and rinse with water. Replacing the filter is simple to do. The fan has three speeds and the ionizer can be turned on or off with the touch of a button.  What I do not like is the purifier does not remove cigarette smoke smells from the air. It does not have a charcoal filter so it is limited to removing particulates from the air.

Now, let us compair the new purifier.

The purifier has a four stage purification system. It uses a true HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of particles and impurities as small as 0.3 microns.

It also has a carbon filter that removes odors and captures large airborne particulates. The carbon filter is sanitized which reduces the development of bacteria, fungi and dust mites.

Finally with PlasmaTrue technology the final stage removes airborne pollutants at the molecular level, neutralizing viruses and bacteria in the air.  What I found most fascinating that it has an air purity sensor that monitors and adjusts speeds according to particles and pollutants in the air. How cool is that?

I started running the machine right out of the box. I was amazed how quiet it runs. When I turned the power button on I saw the lights blinking and did not hear it running. I had to wave my hand over the air outlet to confirm that it was running. My old machine actually can be heard from across the entire house. The filters are easy to maintain. There are separate replace filter indicator lights for the HEPA filter and the charcoal filter. The settings allow four speeds, low, medium, high and turbo. The light on the left indicates air quality.

Red indicates a high level of pollutants in the air. Yellow indicates the air quality is poor. Finally green indicates the air is clean. If the setting is on auto the speed will change per the air quality needs. I checked  the lights many times the first few hours it ran and I generally saw the air quality light green. There was one time I saw the light change to yellow and then red.

I was certain I knew the reason. I had placed the machine beside the back patio door. The air drifting in from the patio door is usually  fresh but when a neighbor lights up a cigarette the smoke drifts over and can be smelled faintly near the patio door.  When the light turned red I check out side just to be certain of my theory. I was correct my daughter’s neighbor was sitting outside smoking. I am so excited to see that this product actually works as it claims.  
I have been running the air purifier non-stop since it came in mail and I am satisfied with it. I plan to take this purifier with me when I travel to visit my grandchildren. I guess you can say I won't leave home with out it.

Surprise Waiting At My Door

When I arrived home Wednesday evening there was a package waiting by the door. This was a big surprise to me because the UPS usually delivers in the morning. I was home all morning so I was just delighted to see this package. What was in the package? Do you really want to know? Office supplies from Avery.  Just check out these awesome goodies.

Look at the large canvas tote bag. I need, need, need this tote bag. I do so much traveling I wore the handles off my last tote. This bag is light weight and very roomy. I like a bag with lots of space. I want you to see how much room is in this bag.

Yes, that is my laptop in there. I have a large 16.9 inch screen and there is lots of room left over. I do not plan to carry my computer in this tote I just wanted you to have something to compare the size with. All zipped closed with my laptop secure inside. Makes me wish it was padded.

What do I like about this tote besides that its very spacious? I like the outer pocket with a Velcro closure. This is perfect when I am on the go and need to grab my pen and pad real quick. I also plan to keep baby wipes, a change purse and a few small toys in this pocket for my grandchildren. This will make it easy to just grab and go, go, go!!

What did I not like about this product? I don't have a real complaint. I only wish it was padded and pink.  Next, I now have a matching insulated lunch bag.

You have all heard me say we always pack our lunch when we travel. I do not like fast food. This is just what I need to put a few healthy snacks in for Pooh Bear. It has a front pocket for his little toy cars which he does not travel with out. On the side is a mesh pocket for his sippy cup. The Velcro closure is easy enough for Pooh Bear to open on his own. What do I like about this lunch bag? I like that it matches the tote bag and the easy open closure. What do I not like about this lunch bag? I do not have any complaints.

What goes good with a lunch bag for traveling? A water bottle of course!

I have to be honest I did not think I would like this water bottle. First off it is not glass. I like my glass water bottle. I still had to give it a chance and test it out. I always carry a water bottle with me every where I go. I found this water bottle to be just perfect for carrying around every where, I don't have to worry about it breaking. It has a wide mouth so I was able to add lots of ice cubes  with out having to crush the ice. What do I like most about the water bottle. I like that it is BPA Free and made in the USA. What do I not like about this product? It is just a little bigger than I am use to carrying around. It did not fit in my purse. I did not mind much though. I just put it in the diaper bag instead.

I saved the best for last. A 4GB USB flash drive. Yes, I do declare I am going to treasure this flash drive. I know you are wondering why would I treasure a flash drive?  Well, let me tell you. It was two winters ago. We had lots of snow that year. I lost my flash drive that had photos of my daughters wedding stored on it. I had my entire family looking for this little flash drive. After a week of searching I gave up. About a month later when the snow melted away my son found the drive in our driveway. Do you want to know what this story has to do with this new flash drive? Take a close look at the photo.

The lanyard the drive is attached to is going to be hooked to my purse. This one is not going to get away from me. Very handy dandy for a flash drive. With 4GB this will make it easy to share photos with my children.

Pooh Bear had to check everything out and decide if he was going to let grandma keep any of the goodies.

Tape, Tape and Tape!!!

Yes, sir Grandma has all kinds of tape. Shoplet.com my favorite online store for office supplies has given me three very useful tape products to review.
Let me start with Duck EZ Start Premium Packaging Tape. What can I say the brand tells me a lot about this tape. First, I do tons of package mailing. I am the family expert in wrapping packages for mailing. I like to use recycled packaging when possible. So, some of the boxes might be a little worn on the corners and need to be taped securely if expected to arrive at their destination in good shape.
This packaging tape came in a package with three rolls and two dispensers. Nice for me. I will leave one at home and keep one with me when I travel. The tape meets U.S. Postal Regulations. The special adhesive on the tape makes it frustration free eliminating splitting and tearing when restarting the roll.

I started out taping a box I packed for my granddaughters Easter gifts. The tape and dispenser roll easily. I like the sharp cutting tool on the end of the dispenser. No torn or tangled mess. I was able to tape the entire package with out any splitting or tearing of the tape.

It is most important to have tape that sticks well and does not wrinkle up and stick to itself. Using this dispenser I did not have any trouble at all. As you can see by the corner of this box the tape stuck well and did not wrinkle up.

I took the roll out of the dispenser to see how easy it was to reload. I have on occasion tried to refill a tape dispenser only to have the dispenser break or be hard to reload. Well, I had no problems with this baby. It opened easily and was no trouble to refill.

Do I have any complaints about this product? No, I had no problems while wrapping my package for shipping. I am very happy with its ease of use.

On to the next product, Duck EZ Start Premium Packaging Tape w/ Dispenser. This might turn out to be my favorite tape. I love the dispenser. The tape and dispenser are not bulky. It is easy to hold and roll with one hand. I have a touch of arthritis in my hands and believe me when I tell you this tape and dispenser is going to be perfect for the days when my fingers are stiff and sore. I tested this tape on a small package I will be sending to grandpa later this week.

This is the underside. You can see the white roller near the cutting blade. The roller helps to smooth the tape onto the package. I really like this feature.

The tape rolled easily and I had no problems with tearing or splitting. I am keeping this dispenser for my self. I won't be sharing this with the family. Frustration free is the perfect description for this product.  Do I have any complaints about this product? Hmm, maybe the dispenser could come in color choices. I would love to have a pink one.

This tape review would not be complete with out this last tape product! Zebra Printed Duck Tape has become Pooh Bears favorite right out of the box. Pooh Bear actually claimed the roll and would not let it go until I promised I would make him a zebra. You will see that later.

I can't begin to describe all the projects I have plannedfor this awesome tape. First and foremost it is just perfect for all sorts of repairs around the house and farm. Second, duct tape is the ultimate crafters dream tape. This tape is made for tearing with your hands. It is strong durable and conforms to uneven surfaces. 

 My friends do you think I can make a zebra from a tp tube?  I have got to try or Pooh Bear is going to badger me until the days end.

Grrrr. The tape split. That usually does not happen unless you have a two year old grandson hanging around your neck while you are making a zebra.

Peace at last. Now, let me see what I can do with this lovely Zebra Print.

You have got to love this print!!

My daughter in law is going to love her present. The bow is reusable. I even made a matching mini card. Do I have any complaints about this tape? No, no and no. I can't think of any complaints.
