I would like to Welcome My Daughter-in-law to Grandma Bonnie's Closet. I hope you all enjoy her post.
Hello, I am from Tootsabella and The Rose and I am guest posting here today at Grandma Bonnie's Closet. You can visit my blog at tootsabellarose.blogspot.com. My husband and I recently bought our first home. It is perfect in every way for our family. The girls each have their own bedroom for when they are older. They share one now because they are so young and want to be in the same room. The other room serves as a toy room. One thing about the house is that the paint job is terrible. I always joke with my husband that the 4 yr old who lived in the house before us painted it. Regardless, we are in the process of repainting the home to make it us. We started with the girls room. After all, it was the biggest eyesore in the house. My four yr old didn't even want to redo the room because it was so ugly. She didn't realize you can transform a room. This is how we did it. We had to figure out a theme. Both of my daughter's like the movie Tangled which is the new Disney Rapunzel movie. We now have a theme. I really got into it, designing every little detail. Everything in the room represents something from the movie. I am really glad we set this theme because we can put modern flair into it, give it some ambiance, and humor all while keeping it geared towards a younger age. The best thing of all is that we kept it Disney and cartoon like without making it gaudy. Our creation is not finished yet. There is still more to be done. I have many more ideas up my sleeve for this amazing space. Enjoy our pics!
This is what the room looked like when we bought the house. Who would have thought to make a blue room with that nasty fan!!
Working on the paint job.
Under the pascal ceiling light pic type "The first thing we did was rip that fan out. Unfortunately it had to have a pull string, but we worked around that setback and it looks great!"
For more pictures of my girls' Rapunzel room, visit my blog at tootsabellarose.blogspot.com. There you will find more detailed pictures and more things found around the room that you haven't seen yet. Wait till you see the windows and doors!!! Hurry over. Thank you for visiting Grandma Bonnie's Closet and reading my guest post! Remember, I will be updating my blog as it is being finished. I also will be posting more rooms in our home as we repaint and decorate our new home. Thanks again for visiting!

Great idea to include the kids and have a theme. When my youngest daughter was in middle school, I let her decorate her room any way she wanted. She painted it with broad hot pink and lime green stripes! Her friend came over one weekend and they did all the painting. I did help them measure and tape, but otherwise I left it to her. I thought it would look awful, but amazingly it was my favorite room in the house--so cheerful! She got pink and white striped sheets and a bright green comforter. Her room was a masterpiece and reflected who she was.
ReplyDeleteShe moved out of that room last year and I repainted it--I was sad covering up all those bright and cheerful stripes!
Enjoyed your post!
That room is now fit for a Priness. Her jammies match the wall.
ReplyDeleteThank you both! Galen, your daughter's room sounded adorable. I love those colors together. My Journey With Candida, Yes it is their princess fantasy room. lol. We took their doll to Home Depot and tried to match up a good color. We ended up going with grape popsicle, which was their choice. Thanks for commenting. I have more over at my blog tootsabellarose.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteOh WOW I love the makeover! I can talent runs in the family even if you marry into it :) I tried to redo my living room once it looked do easy on TV. I don't have the touch is all I will say. Great to meet you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kimberly! All I do is I get an idea then I broaden it. You can do anything. If you can think it, you can do it. The hard part is finding the stuff that you are thinking about. I have been looking for the perfect vase to put my golden flower in for a while now. I have an image in my mind, but can't find it in any store. It has to be a certain size as well. It's okay, eventually I will find it. I always imagine it, then switch things around until I get it perfect, at least in my mind. I do ask family for help and opinions as well. Hope this helps. Happy decorating! It was nice to meet you too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, how adorable is that!!! I wish your DIL lived nearby and could help me with this old farm house. I'm working up on finishing my office that I started on over a year ago. Next is a room for the grands for when they come to visit. I have no idea on how to get started. The room is huge. I just am lost on what to do with it.
ReplyDeleteHello Terri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment on my Girls' room. Even though I don't live close, I can still help you out. I would love to help you with ideas and themes. Whenever you are ready to start on the room, let me know. You can email me a pic of the room and we can start from there. Oh, you should check their room out on my site too. There's a lot more you haven't seen if you haven't went over there already. http://tootsabellarose.blogspot.com/2012/05/rapunzel-room-update.html#comment-form
