Wow, I am feeling good. So far I like this program and I believe I am going to be able to accomplish my goals with a little hard work. For those of you who missed my last post. I am following the program by Dustin Maher the author of the book Fit Moms For Life. This is a Get Healthy Challenge for blogging moms. The program will restart each month and run for 21 days.
How have I done up until today? I think I have done amazing! I have not missed a workout even though I had to work around Pooh Bear. I am adjusting my eating habits. Little or no carbohydrates. I am trying to cut out the sugary and processed foods. That is my major downfall. Well, chocolate that is. I had only one peanut butter cup yesterday and zero chocolate so far today. I changed our bread to 100% whole wheat. We were using whole wheat but I have learned from Dustin Maher that when the label only states whole wheat it can contain 50% white flour. I will be eating lots of vegetables, fruits and drinking more water.

When I learned I had candida, sugar was the hardest thing for me to give up.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you have ever tried xylitol. It tastes just like sugar only it has very little glycemic index and does not feed candida. My Hubs has switched to it and can't tell the difference.
Oh... it measures like sugar too so you can use it in your baking. Except, you can't use it to bake bread because it will not let the yeast rise.
Congrats on your success!
ReplyDeleteJust to add to what Terry (Candida) said, My husband worked as a product developer for an herbal company so he knows all the ingredients that labels list and whether they're good or bad...freaks me out knowing he knows! Anyway, he says that xylitol is one of the good sweeteners!
I do pretty good going without sweets until that time of the months approaches...PMS combined with pre-menopausal hormones always sends me to the ice cream section of the grocery store...LOL
Hope you do well. I think I will start when I eventually get my treadmill back
ReplyDeleteWay to go. I'm proud of you for sticking to it, I'm sure it's not easy to do. Giving up sugar would be hard for me to do, I love it in my coffee.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I always think that changing the diet is the hardest part. I grew up on processed food and eat very differently now. I understand that it's hard!
