Sambusa Recipe

Deep fried meat pies.

This is a family recipe for Sambusa. They make great appetizers. side dishes or snacks.

Ingredients:

1 package Large Egg Roll Wraps
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup chopped long stemmed green onions
1 or 2 hard cooked eggs roughly chopped
1 raw egg
1 tsp Mediterranean mixed spices(cumin can be used as a substitute)
1/4 cup chopped parsley
salt and pepper

Filling Directions:
Brown green onions in a skillet add ground beef and continue until beef is cooked through. Add parsley, Mediterranean spice, salt and pepper to taste, cook until parsley is wilted. Remove from flame, add chopped boiled egg. Let cool.(5 min.)

Heat Oil for frying. While oil is heating prepare and fill egg roll wraps.

Beat raw egg in a small bowl. ( this will be used to seal the edges of the meat pie.)
Put a heaping table spoon full on the center of a wrap. You may want more or less depending how stuffed you would like the pies. Do not over fill or the pie will burst while frying. brush the edges of the wrap with the egg and fold over in to a triangle. One edge should over lap on to the other. Fold the edge of the wrap over and press to make sure the edges are sealed. Fry two or three at a time depending on the size of your deep fryer or pot. Drain on paper towel. They are great served warm or cold.
