Baby Brezza Review

The Baby Brezza is a one step baby food maker that every mom should have on hand. I was so thrilled when asked to review the Baby Brezza.  I have always made my own baby food in the past. I had a small baby food grinder when my children were babies that I used to make baby food from the foods I had prepared for the family. When my grandchildren came along I did the same for them. I would boil or steam some vegetables and puree with my blender. I believe baby food should be fresh and as unprocessed as possible. The only way to be sure of feeding your baby the best is to make your own baby food. Busy mothers might feel they do not have the time to make their own baby food. Baby Brezza is the perfect answer to the problem of not having the time to give your baby homemade food.
Baby Brezza is a steamer and blender all in one. The simple control panel is easy to understand and use. Making baby food is as simple as cleaning your fruits and/or vegetables, dicing adding to the bowl and press a button. You have a few options with the Baby Brezza. Steam and puree, steam only, or puree only.
The first puree I made with the Baby Brezza was butternut squash and blueberries. My lovely granddaughters were right there to help with the process. They also were my taste testers. In the end we used the puree in some breakfast muffins. The baby brezza can also make smoothies and dips.



What I like most about the Baby Brezza is its BPA free, comes with baby food recipes and a feeding guide. The guide has a quick reference chart for the recommended ages to start feeding each food type. You will also find a chart with steam time for each vegetable and fruit.

Mail Order Ducklings

I have raised day old chicks in the past. I ordered my chicks from a mail order hatchery many years ago. Since then we incubate and hatch all of our chicks. I have been seriously thinking about raising ducklings. I have been looking to find ducks for sale in our area and have not had much luck. While doing a little research online I thought about looking at the same place I found my chickens for sale. They actually had a big variety of ducks. While I do a little research about raising ducks I will be in touch with California Hatchery to discuss with an expert on what type of ducklings would fit our needs. With fall fast approaching I intend to gain as much knowledge about raising ducklings and be read for our order. It is important to be ready in time for spring as that is the best time for hatching and raising ducklings. They will have plenty of time to grow strong before next years winter.  My plan to buy ducks will be one of the more interesting events around here come spring. I will keep you updated as we get our first ducklings.
I think mail ordering chicks and ducklings is such a fantastic way to start a great hobby. The shipping is fast and does not harm the animals. I have never had a problem with any of my mail order chicks. So if you have ever been interested in trying to raise any of these adorable animals this is the way to go.

Koi Fry and Frogs

We have been real busy this week with tons of yard work that has been put off until now. While skimming lawn clipping off my koi pond I was amazed to see so many baby(fry) koi. We have had our koi produce before but we only had a few hatch and survive over the years. Well, this year we have at least one hundred or possibly more. I had no idea the pond conditions must have been perfect as it takes a lot of work to get koi to spawn and eggs to hatch. I wonder if it was our busy schedule that made us leave the pond take care of itself.
I am sharing a few pictures I was able to catch today. I had a hard time capturing a close up of the fish. They can see me approaching and do not want to get their picture taken. I guess they could be camera shy. I was able to get some great closeups of one of our pond frogs.





We are now going to be busy extending and deepening our second pond to accommodate our new pets. I will have to keep you updated if I do not get too busy.

A Little Help Please. We Need A Nick Name!

By now you all have met my newest grandson. I am proud to show him off again for anyone who missed the first pictures.
So here is the big request! I need some help with his nickname for Grandma Bonnie's Closet. Here is some information to help your thought process. Born July 14th on his calculated due date. He has a little more hair than his brother Pooh Bear did at birth. He weighed 6lbs 1oz. 19.5 inches long. He sleeps well and eats good. If you have a suggested nickname leave it in a comment. Thanks a million. I will leave you with a side view. Ha ha.

Our New Blessing

We have a new grand baby! My readers, I have been missing for a few days. Well, some of you may have suspected our new grandchild has arrived. We have been so busy with our new blessing and no time for my blogging work. I must also confess I had no internet connection at the hospital. Well lets just say I am not technical savvy enough to figure how to get my smart phone hooked to their internet server. I guess smart phones are not so smart. I will stop rambling on and get to the good news.
We have a healthy grandson! Born on Saturday the 14th of July. I will leave you with some pictures. I hope you all have a great week. I will be back soon and stop over to visit each of you.

Summer Vegetable Banana Muffins

Are you looking for a great way to a great way to use your garden vegetables? These vegetable muffins make it easy to get vegetables in your child's diet.  
Zucchini/Banana Veggie Muffins

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar, or to taste

2 large bananas, mashed

5 ounces squash cooked

2 zucchini grated

2 eggs, beaten

1 cup all-purpose flour a little more or less

1/2 cup oatmeal

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat an oven to 375 degrees F. Grease 24 mini muffin cups.

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Mix in the mashed bananas, squash, zucchini, and eggs. Stir in the flour amount depends upon how wet your ingredients are. Add oatmeal, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, and salt until just combined. Spoon the batter equally into the prepared muffin cups.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 15 to 20 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.

Purify Your Air



Everyone I know wants to breathe clean air. It's important for us to keep the air in our homes not only smelling clean but free from airborne particulates and pollutants. I have mentioned many times that I am asthmatic. I use steroids to keep my asthma under control. For the most part my asthma is usually under control. I do have a sensitivity to dust, mold, heavy scented perfumes and cigarette smoke. Any time I am exposed to any one of the above I will have problem breathing. We have been using an ionizing air purifier in our home for a few years now. This has proven to help keep the dust to a very minimum. This in turn helps keep my asthma under control.


When I heard that I was going to be reviewing a Fellowes Air Purifier Pooh Bear and I sat at the curb waiting for the UPS to deliver our package. I will have to save that story for another time. I know you are thinking I already had a purifier, why would I be that excited to try another one? I have learned that not all purification systems are the same. Most clean small particulates, and dust from the air, while a few air cleaners do much more.  


Let me tell you a little about my old purifier. This purifier has a reusable filter. I like that it does not cost to replace the filter. I just sweep the dust away and rinse with water. Replacing the filter is simple to do. The fan has three speeds and the ionizer can be turned on or off with the touch of a button.  What I do not like is the purifier does not remove cigarette smoke smells from the air. It does not have a charcoal filter so it is limited to removing particulates from the air.
Now, let us compair the new purifier.
The purifier has a four stage purification system. It uses a true HEPA filter that captures 99.97% of particles and impurities as small as 0.3 microns.
It also has a carbon filter that removes odors and captures large airborne particulates. The carbon filter is sanitized which reduces the development of bacteria, fungi and dust mites.
Finally with PlasmaTrue technology the final stage removes airborne pollutants at the molecular level, neutralizing viruses and bacteria in the air.  What I found most fascinating that it has an air purity sensor that monitors and adjusts speeds according to particles and pollutants in the air. How cool is that?
I started running the machine right out of the box. I was amazed how quiet it runs. When I turned the power button on I saw the lights blinking and did not hear it running. I had to wave my hand over the air outlet to confirm that it was running. My old machine actually can be heard from across the entire house. The filters are easy to maintain. There are separate replace filter indicator lights for the HEPA filter and the charcoal filter. The settings allow four speeds, low, medium, high and turbo. The light on the left indicates air quality.
Red indicates a high level of pollutants in the air. Yellow indicates the air quality is poor. Finally green indicates the air is clean. If the setting is on auto the speed will change per the air quality needs. I checked  the lights many times the first few hours it ran and I generally saw the air quality light green. There was one time I saw the light change to yellow and then red.
I was certain I knew the reason. I had placed the machine beside the back patio door. The air drifting in from the patio door is usually  fresh but when a neighbor lights up a cigarette the smoke drifts over and can be smelled faintly near the patio door.  When the light turned red I check out side just to be certain of my theory. I was correct my daughter’s neighbor was sitting outside smoking. I am so excited to see that this product actually works as it claims.  
I have been running the air purifier non-stop since it came in mail and I am satisfied with it. I plan to take this purifier with me when I travel to visit my grandchildren. I guess you can say I won't leave home with out it.

Simple Sugar Cookies


Ingredients:
2&3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup soft butter (2sticks)
1&1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
Preheat oven 375. Cream butter and sugar in a medium bowl add egg and vanilla. Mix well. In large bowl mix together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add creamed mixture to flour mixture. Mill well. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 min.
