The Surprise Device Is Revealed

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Boomer Voices program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.
Grandma is back from my trip with the Verizon Boomer Voices Program. I had a marvelous time in Chicago with all the other Verizon Boomer Bloggers. My husband and I arrived Sunday evening and checked in to our hotel. We quickly unpacked and headed for a walk on the Magnificent Mile. Our senses were assailed with all the delights of a big city. We ended our evening with a little dinner at a nearby eatery. I was looking forward to the the surprise device unveiling so I was eager to get to bed.
The next morning our blogger group met in the hotel lobby and walked to the John Hancock Building on Michigan avenue.
Standing under this one hundred story building was breathtaking. Up we went to the 13th floor. I was beginning to feel like a child at Christmas time. The excitement was building as we were welcomed by Verizon and began our device training. Then it came time to receive our surprise devices.
Our new device was a Droid Razr Maxx HD by Motorola. I am very impressed by Verizon's choice of device for us to test. The Droid Razr Maxx HD has so many exceptional features that I hardly know where to start. I have to say the battery life is what stands out to me. The Droid Razr Maxx HD is said to have an exceptionally long battery life. What I experienced was just that. I started with a full battery on Tuesday morning. We left the city around noon. After fifteen minutes of driving we were unable to find the highway. I decided to use the VZ navigator app on the phone to find our way through the city. I then began checking fifty or so emails I was behind on. I then tweeted and browsed the Internet for a long while. At the end of the day I had 67% battery life still remaining.
Now back to our trip. Monday evening the group was treated to a private trolley tour of downtown Chicago and dinner at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center. I tested out the camera on the Droid Razr Maxx HD. I am sharing the photos with you so you might judge for your self the quality of this camera. Please keep in mind most of the photos were taken from a moving trolley or from my shaky hands on the 95th floor of the building.
I love the way the clouds are reflected in the windows of this building.
A storm started brewing over the city.
A view from the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Building. You can see the mist hanging over the city from the rain.

What do you think about the photos? The Droid Razr Maxx HD has an excelent camera in my opinion. I hope you stay tuned for more fun information about the Droid Razr Maxx HD.

Juppy Baby Walker

Grandma Bonnie's Closet has been given the opportunity to review the Juppy Baby Walker. I have been wanting to try a baby walker since I read about them.

Take a look at Little Roo's face and you can tell how much fun this Juppy Baby Walker is to use. I am so impressed how easy it is to use. Even Papa can help baby learn to walk.
This baby walker can be personalized with baby's name. It also comes with a carrying bag. It is easy to clean by hand or machine. One-size fits all.
The stitching is neat and the closure is a strong zipper with a Velcro closure looped through a ring for great size adjustment.

Check out The Juppy baby walker on Facebook.

Disclosure:  I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Off Visiting The Grandchildren

Nothing gives me more pleasure than spending time with my grandchildren. Last week I went off to visit my grandsons. This week my grandsons have come to visit and spend the week with grandma and grandpa. It has been very busy around here but I did stop to take a few photos. I hope you enjoy the photos.
My youngest grandson Roo. He does not mind riding in the car as long as he is going places. He just loves being outside.
You have got to admit he is so adorable. He sure does like shopping. Just don't put groceries in the seat with him. He loves tossing anything he can get his hands on.
We visited the Kalahari Animal Park with all three grandsons. That is Little Bug trying to reach a feeding tube. Pooh Bear found a lower feeding tube just perfect for his reach. The feeding tubes are used for the animals that are likely to bite.
Pooh Bear feeding a carrot to a very gentle camel.
Little Bug feeding a giraffe. The boys liked the giraffes the best.
Which animal is your favorite? Have you been to Kalahari?

Preschool Lesson: From Tadpoles To Frogs

As I promised here is another post about the tadpoles in our pond. I wanted to make this a learning lesson for my grandchildren. So please keep in mind while you may already know and understand the information in this post. I am attempting to make this a lesson for young preschoolers.
Our tadpoles began their journey as a jelly like egg laid in the pond by the mother frog. The floating mass of eggs are clumped together. The mass of eggs is called frog spawn. A large clump of eggs is safer than a small clump of eggs that may be eaten by other pond life.
The egg starts as a single cell. As the egg slowly develops it splits into two cells. The two cells split into four cells and so on. The mass of cells forms an embryo. Organs and gills begin to form. At 21 days the embryo leaves it jelly like shell and attaches it self to a weed in the pond. The embryo is now a tadpole.
The tadpole grows until it can break free into the water. This can take any where from 3 days to 3 weeks. This will depend on the type of frog the tadpole will become.
The tadpole will use camouflage to protect its self from danger. The tadpoles eat small green algae plants that are in the water. At about five weeks the tadpole starts to grow hind legs. This is where some of our tadpoles are at in their metamorphosis.
I have included a video of a few tadpoles I scooped up today. The first one focused on in the video does not have legs yet. You may be able to see leg buds. As the video moves along you will see tadpoles swimming with legs.

No tadpoles were hurt in the making of this video. The tadpoles were release immediately back into the pond.
As our tadpoles grow we will post more of our learning experience. I found a coloring page online for my grandchildren to enjoy. If you would like the same coloring page here is the link to the coloring page.

I hope you enjoyed our lesson today.

Greek Spaghetti

I am not a fan of Spaghetti with red sauce. As I have gotten older I just can not eat anything with tomatoes in it. When my husband makes spaghetti he always puts aside a serving or two of the spaghetti noodles undressed for me. I usually doctor the plain pasta with butter, garlic and shredded cheddar cheese. Today I decided to try something different. I had a lot of salad vegetables left over from our family picnic yesterday.
I dressed the spaghetti pasta with olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. I mixed in chopped purple onions, sliced olives, diced green and yellow peppers. I then topped it with shredded cheddar cheese and some crumbled feta cheese.

When I made this dish I did not even know there was a dish named Greek Spaghetti. I started searching spaghetti recipes and found a recipe for Greek Spaghetti.  The recipe I found was a lot like what I made. But they added lots of other ingredients like tomatoes, meat and other vegetables.

I really enjoyed having spaghetti for a change. What do you think? Does that look tasty? Do you like spaghetti or another pasta dish?
