Wild Hippo Chocolate And Treats

Anyone who reads Grandma Bonnie's Closet knows that I love anything chocolate. Well Wild Hippo was wonderful enough to share their delicious chocolate treats with me. Not only is their chocolate delicious it is handmade with love and is Organic, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Paleo, Vegan approved. 

This chocolate bar was so tasty and gave me my chocolate fix plus I shared it with my son as it was just enough for two. 

The chocolate hearts tin would make a great birthday gift, Mothers day gift and would be great for an Easter Basket.

Now, if you want more than chocolate then try these Sunbutter Cups which are sold by the dozen. I really like peanut butter cups and I found that these healthy Sunbutter Cups make a great alternative. I could eat them every day!

Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil

I have read the name Tropical Traditions over and over while reading my favorite blogs. I use coconut oil often for my cooking needs. I just had never tried Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. I realize  I am always slow to try a new product but when I do I like to dig deep and read all I can about the product. This product was no different. I read many reviews before I decided to try this Coconut Oil for myself.
What I learned in my research of this product is amazing. Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is handcrafted in the Philippines by families using traditional methods passed on from past generations. This coconut oil is not highly processed bleached coconut oil but rather traditionally handmade. The oil is GMO free and USDA Certified Organic.

Over the summer months I do a lot of frying and grilling. I like to cook with healthy oils. We switched from using store brand vegetable oil (soybean oil) to using Coconut Oil for our frying needs about two years ago. I am now happily switching to Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil because of their production methods. I like knowing I am taking care of my family's health in the best way possible.

The above pie crust was made using Tropical Traditions Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil. I replaced the butter in the recipe with coconut oil. This pie was a hit with our entire family.

Are You Looking For An Organic Deodorant?

Today, I am reviewing an awesome organic product from Wild Hippo on Etsy. I have been looking for an organic deodorant that works and does not cause my sensitive skin to break out. Most deodorants I have tried make me itch like crazy. I have only found one other deodorant that does not cause me to itch or break out. I really did not like buying that brand because, it was not completely organic, and it was terribly expensive. So as you can imagine, when Wild Hippo asked me to review their Organic Deodorant, I jumped right in.

The deodorant is handmade and comes in a 1/2-pint-sized glass jar. The jar fills a 2.5 ounce deodorant stick three times. If you do not have an empty deodorant stick lying around to fill, you can order a starter kit. The starter kit comes with a refillable deodorant stick and one 1/2-pint jar of deodorant. Wild Hippo offers three scents: lemon, melaleuca (tea tree), and unscented. I chose to review the unscented version. Stop over and check out her scents and if you are not interested in the available scents you can contact Wild Hippo, and they will be happy to create a custom order for you. 

When I received the deodorant, I scooped some out and pressed it in my empty deodorant stick, and it was ready to go. The deodorant is creamy in texture and glides on like any other stick deodorant. Because there are no chemicals in this product, it can melt at temperatures higher than 76 degrees Fahrenheit. I did not find this to be a problem, as my bathroom is not heated and stays fairly cool during the winter months. In the summer, I may have to keep it in the refrigerator. I simply love this deodorant! It works just like any other deodorant without all the unnecessary ingredients. I have been wearing the deodorant for about three weeks now, and I have no complaints. This product is organic,  Food-grade, aluminum-free, and hypoallergenic.It also complements a vegan, vegetarian, or paleo lifestyle. 

Wild Hippo has a wide selection of organic, vegetarian, vegan, and paleo baked goods to offer. They are the creators of the original date bite of which I had the opportunity to taste. The date bites are quite delicious and make healthy snack that is naturally sweet. 

Oh yes, There is one more item to mention. The organic, gluten-free chocolate chip cookies are so tasty my sons fought over the last few cookies we had to sample.

Home Sweet Home

Just last week I had an unplanned trip home. Although it was not planned I was home to get some rest. Ha ha, not sure that happened. I was able to enjoy some time with my grandson Little Bug. I sure did enjoy time with my hubby. We took a trip to a local organic herb farm. I really wanted to buy everything in sight.

The herb farm also specializes in miniature plants. They had all sorts of miniature displays.

Organic, Holistic pH Balanced Moisturizer

I am on a quest to find an organic moisturizer for my dry hands. I have been given the opportunity to try Made From Earth  pH Balanced Moisturizer.

At first when I saw the bottle I thought the lotion might be a a little runny. I like thick and creamy. As you can see in the next photo the moisturizer is thick and creamy. It feels silky soft and not greasy to the touch.

I like the idea of using organic skin care products. I want my skin to be healthy and soft. With the pH balanced moisturizer my hands are on their way to feeling softer everyday.
The moisturizer is made with blend of Vitamin A, B5 and E Acetate to promote skin cell renewal and collagen formation. With this blend it makes a great moisturizer for under for use under concealers, foundations and mineral makeup.

What did I like about this product? Its organic and made in the USA.

Waxelene The Organic Petroleum Jelly Alternative!

I am so excited to share this wonderful organic product. I have been trying to find an organic skin softener for my dry hands. When I was first heard of Waxelene and learned that it was an organic alternative to petroleum jelly I imediatly thought of my dry hands and feet. As a child I saw my mother and grandmother use petroleum jelly for all their skin needs. They even used petroleum jelly on chapped lips. Of course times have changed and I have been trying not to use unnessery chemicals on my skin or in my home. My dry hands have been paying the price of being chemical free.
I have been using Waxelene everyday for almost two weeks now. I am so happy with the results. My hands are soft and no longer dry and cracking at my knuckles. I have also been using waxelene on my feet each night before sleeping. I have found that my feet are no longer cracking on my heals.
I was worried that it might have a heavy greasy feeling. To my surprise it is light and absorbed eaisly into my skin after a few minutes. The texture was smooth and silky. The scent was light and pleasent. Although I could not place the scent completely I did smell a hint of bees wax.

What did I like best about this product? It works well on dry skin. It's made in the USA. Finally it's made from organic soy oil, beeswax, organic rosemary oil and natural vitamin e.

Hair Styling Protection

I color my hair about every 3 months. I have been doing this for a long time. My hair has become dry and a little dull. When I was given the opportunity to review this ANTIOXIDANT Leave in Protectant by Shielo I jumped right in. This hair spray is made to protect color treated hair from styling instruments, the environment and UV light. It is great for eliminating frizz and leaves hair feeling soft. It is Paraben free and made with organic extracts. This is a list of the key ingredients straight from the website.

"UV Protectants and natural antioxidants from White Tea enhance color protection. Shea Butter adds a protective moisture barrier to seal the hair shaft. Wheat Crosspolymer creates an invisible safety net around each hair to shield color, increase flexibility and reduce breakage." My hair needs all this help.

I used the ANTIOXIDANT Leave in Protectant for over a week. So far and I really like the result. I am always worried about hair sprays leaving my hair stiff or sticky. This spray left my hair soft and easy to brush. Before I used this spray I checked out the scent. It is important that any product I use not bother my asthma. The scent was strong for a few minutes and it left me thinking of coconut. I am not saying it smells like coconut but it was a very similar scent. The most important result it did not bother my breathing at all.

What did I like about the product? I like that it is made with organic extracts, not sticky and made in the USA. I like the product enough to continue using it regularly.

What did I not like about the product? Nothing comes to mind. It's a great styling product.
